I am happy to convey my experience as an old advisor working in a new independent platform.
To quote the old cliché, “it really boils down to who you know”. Through the process of getting humbled on the squash court over a 3-year period, I built a friendship with Barry Wright – an Investia branch manager in Victoria, BC and a 35-year veteran in the financial services industry. I had been an advisor and a division director with Investors Group for 14 years myself, so besides the game on the court, Barry and I also had a lot in common off the court.
In July 2013, after thoroughly researching all the available business models (bank-owned firms, insurance companies, and independent dealerships), I decided to make the change from the corporate IG model to the independent platform with Investia. Back when I started 14 years ago, I had plans of learning the ropes and building a practice then eventually going out on my own.
The Investia business model has been a very positive experience, for my clients, myself and my family. There are many things I like aside from being able to offer clients unbiased access to the universe of lower-cost mutual funds and insurance products. Having a flatter management structure creates a refreshing openness and better understanding within the organization. There is a very welcoming culture; advisors are free to leave, so the company does what it can to listen, make improvements and reduce impediments within the confines of industry compliance.
In short, my future has never been so bright!
I’ve been in the mutual fund industry for over 25 years and I intend to retire with Investia. As a seasoned professional financial advisor, I endorse Investia Financial Services. The corporate culture is friendly and helpful. Investia’s support team and systems are super advisor and client-friendly. Investia wants you to succeed, maintain and grow your business with confidence. Of course, the compensation structure is aggressively competitive!
We joined Investia Financial Services over ten years ago. Since then, they have continued to grow in financial strength and evolve technologically.
This has created a greater ease for advisors doing business while allowing financial advisors to have complete independence.
“A stable yet progressive organization” is how I would best describe my many years with Investia. Keeping up with today's latest technology platform has enabled me to service my clients efficiently. The mutual funds chosen by the advisors for their clients are so chosen without any undue influence from Investia, which supports our sense of independence. It has also been reassuring that the Investia branch I am associated with provides top-notch support and a teamwork atmosphere. I would recommend to any advisor seeking a reputable mutual fund dealer to take a serious look at Investia.
After 20 years with a large proprietary mutual fund dealer, I decided to make a change to the independent channel. My homework suggested that Investia had an easy-to-use working platform, a good business structure, and fair compensation. I was right. They provided me with a team to make the transition as smooth as possible and I can’t say enough about the common-sense approach to business that exists within their culture from the CEO down. They have everything I require to run a successful, professional, and competitive business including compliance, ongoing education, and back-office support. I would encourage anyone to consider using them as their dealer and business partner.
